Zwei MARATHON MEN der Extraklasse: HUB18 und THOBISCH

Die LICHESS-Marathons sind Highlights, haben ihre Fans auch beim SC TURM ILLINGEN.

Letztes Wochenende fand der Spring Marathon statt. LICHESS machte tüchtig Werbung: Join to be part of the biggest chess tournament in history! 24h of 2+0 bullet chess: top 500 players get a unique trophy!

Wir erinnern uns an den WINTERMARATHON Ende Dezember vorigen Jahres mit dem großartigen Abschneiden von HUB18 alias Hans Barmbold und THOBISCH alias Thomas Biehler: Hans erkämpfte Rang 30, Thomas, später eingestiegen, Rang 71! Der Modus war 3 + 0, über 25.000 Akteure machten mit.
Beim SPRING MARATHON, Modus 2 + 0, waren es jetzt 24 129 Teilnehmer. Nach 24 Stunden stand der Sieger fest: AQUA_BLAZING (Lichess-Wertung 2821) schaffte 1329 Punkte in 480 Partien bei einer Gewinnrate von 80%. Die TURM-Heroen Hans und Thomas wieder mit einer bravourösen Leistung! Hans eroberte mit 491 Partien und 701 Punkten Rang 14, lag lange unter den TOP 10, Thomas brachte es auf Rang 104. Er war wieder später eingestiegen, holte in 252 Partien 488 Punkte.
Weitere Spieler vom SC TURM mischten mit, auch sie sollen hier gewürdigt werden. Vom TURM-LICHESS-Team waren es RAINIERL, CSKA MOSCOU, INTERROGATOR und ZETAJORGE. Stolz ist man in Illingen auf den Schach-Nachwuchs. Der beherrscht nicht nur die in den Verbandsspielen der Oberliga und Saarlandliga gefragte “langsame” Gangart, sondern mischt auch munter im Blitz mit. Was SIMONPLAYSBADCHESS alias Simon Windmüller, 14, und JONAS FEIDT, 18, jetzt beim SPRING MARATHON geleistet haben, ist aller Ehren wert! Simon erkämpfte mit 366 Punkten in 330 Partien Rang 303, Jonas sammelte in nur 237 Partien 364 Punkte, was ihm Rang 306 bescherte. Sie sind weit vorne unter den 24 129 Spielern, haben sie sich redlich verdient, die LICHESS unique trophy for the top 500 players.

The question arises: chess or sleep?

The Spring Marathon 2023 was on, from 15.04.2023 at 02:00 to 16.04.2023, 02:00; viewable at https://lichess.org/tournament/spring23 .
A dear, long day of chess, 24 hours; the bullet marathon was happening! One day can seem quite long. The time mode was+0, with the possibility to halve the time to get extra points. The prize was a digital trophy in the Lichess profile for the Top500. It was my seventh participation in such a marathon. 24192 players participated! 354.906 games were played and 25.635.294 moves! You could say almost all of Lichess was on its feet!
20 hours played, with breaks in between, 491 games in total. 240 victories are compared to 187 defeats, with 64 draws. With a performance of 2595 I am very satisfied, with an average opponent rating of 2582! 701 points were enough for a place in the top50, 14th place!
Many from the SC Turm team also participated, like Thobisch, Simonplaybadchess, JFeidt, ZetaJorge and rainierL. All of them finished in the Top500. Thobisch was 104th, JFeidt 306th, Simonplaysbadchess 301th, ZetaJorge 449th and rainierL 298th!
I had a very conciliatory end, when I could win 6 of my last 8 Games and end the Marathon 15 minutes before the End. There is a trophy for the Top10, Top50, Top100 and Top500.
All in all, it was a very interesting and again unique experience, exhausting but challenging in a positive sense. All the time the next game was starting, the next strong opponent was waiting, sometimes a game lasted only 30 seconds, you gave up even in a hopeless position or your opponent did. I tried to halve the time not that often, in case of berserk of the opponent I tried to beat the opponent on the board and on time.
In summary, it has been a great, successful format and a wonderful organization of Lichess!!!
